Despite the exodus to the east from a lot of British manufacturers, Turnstyle Designs continues to manufacture in England. Where else can you find the wealth of talent and craftsmanship across such a wide field of processes and materials that is needed to create this diverse collection of products?
Composites
Our unique composite blends have become our trade mark:
incredibly tactile, versatile and durable. Each piece is hand cast
and finished and will pass though at least eight pairs of hands
before being finally packed for despatch. Every one is unique
with its own individually crafted character and charm.
All our composites are suitable for exterior and interior
use, including coastal environments.

Bone Dyed marble, sealed and hand finished, a versatile finish that will suit most settings. Co-ordinating orders will be batch made. |
Wood
We use two types of hardwoods, all come from certified
re-planted forests, and because of the size of product
we produce waste is minimal. All finished with a satin
lacquer. All door and cabinet knobs have metal
cores set into them for firm action and durability.
Suitable for interior use only.

Maple A light wood with little grain, great for contemporary settings. |

Oak An extremely hard wood, with incredibly beautiful grain patterns (difficult to convey in a catalogue). Turned against the grain to create varied and beautiful patterns. |
Please note: wood has a natural beauty which cannot be controlled, and whilst we work with two of the most consistent woods, variations and character must be allowed for.
| Brass We use a host of manufacturing processes to produce the best results, including hot forging, turning, stamping and wire forming. Whatever the method, it is the finishing that counts, and our finishes are superb: |
Pewter We use lead free pewter, to ensure the shine stays on our polished finish. |

Leather
We use both hand and machine stitching
on our designs, both highly skilled crafts
producing results that are seemingly
impossible to produce.
The Leather
We only use the very best vegetable tanned, full grain,
drum dyed bridle leather. Leather, like all natural materials,
will change with age, according to the situation, exposure
to sunlight, and usage, this adds to the character and like an
old briefcase or handbag it just gets better. Tactile and seductive,
there is nothing better than the feel and smell of real leather,
a natural choice for handles.
Maintenance
All leather products are pre-waxed prior to
dispatch. With regular use your handles
will need very little maintenance, if not
used regularly we recommend some
leather polish once or twice a year.
